About Andhra Pradesh SAPCC
SAPCC Overview
Published in 2012, Andhra Pradesh SAPCC 1.0 predates the reorganisation of the state and covers the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh. It was prepared by the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute under the Department of Environment, Forest, Science and Technology. A Steering Committee, a technical working group and stakeholder consultations guided its preparation. The plan addresses agriculture, coastal management, forests and biodiversity, energy, industry, transport, health, urban and rural development, tourism and climate research.
Climate profile
- Because Andhra Pradesh SAPCC 1.0 covers the undivided state, its climate profile ranges from a humid, maritime-influenced coast to hotter and more semi-arid interior regions.
- Rainfall is received from both the southwest and northeast monsoons, with considerable regional and seasonal variation; coastal areas are generally wetter than the drier interior.
- The Bay of Bengal coast is influenced by tropical cyclones and storm surges, while projections in Andhra Pradesh SAPCC 1.0 indicate warming and changes in the distribution of monsoon rainfall.
