About Telangana SAPCC
SAPCC Overview
Telangana's SAPCC v1.0 was prepared by the Environment Protection Training & Research Institute (EPTRI) under the Department of Environment, Forests, Science & Technology — formed in 2014 after the state's bifurcation from Andhra Pradesh. The plan covers 10 sectors per PDF p.22: Agriculture and allied; Forestry & Biodiversity; Energy; Industries (including mining); Transportation; Health; Urban Development; Tourism; Rural Development; and Research in Climate Change. A Climate Change Knowledge Centre is proposed at EPTRI.
Climate profile
- Semi-arid central India climate; multiple agro-climatic zones; rainfall season-wise varies (2013-14 baseline).
- Heat-wave events recorded with annual death cases tracked (2005–15); drought-affected mandals tracked district-wise (1995-2012).
- PRECIS A1B regional climate model used for baseline plus 2020s, 2050s and 2080s projections (PDF p.84); rising temperature trends and shifting monsoon patterns documented.
